The last twenty years have witnessed an exponential rise in interest in the crusades and their influences on Western and Eastern cultures. One recently emerging area of interest is the profound influence the crusades have had on European and Middle-Eastern literature. This bibliography (a partner site to the Camelot Project) will provide annotations of narratives that take their influence and inspiration from the historical crusades. The project is currently focused on English and American literature, but our long-term goal is to provide substantial annotated bibliographies and essay-based entries for other European (and eventually Middle-Eastern and Asian) countries as well.
Our hope, in producing such a resource, is to encourage further research and discussion of the Crusades and their effect on literature at all educational levels.
Back in the mid 2000s, I thought I would read every volume in the Very Short Introduction Series. Silly me. I still love these little books, and have a desire to read more volumes (and start broadening my knowledge beyond just history texts), but I think I will be content with just recording which Volumes I have read by posting them here. So, here they are in the order that I have read them (to the best of my remembrance for the earlier volumes...).
Oxford's Very Short Introductions series offers concise and original introductions to a wide range of subjects - from Public Health to Buddhist Ethics, Soft Matter to Classics, and Art History to Globalization. Each volume provides an authoritative and engaging assessment of a concept, field, or body of work, drawing out the central ideas, themes, and approaches. Our expert authors combine facts, analysis, new insights, and enthusiasm to make often challenging topics highly readable to develop your core knowledge. With over 750 titles and many more in development, as well as regularly updated new editions, the series is constantly evolving to reflect a contemporary readership. Whatever your area of study, whatever the topic that fascinates you, the series is an indispensable and accessible guide that will enrich your understanding.

Nomisma.org is an international, collaborative project to provide stable digital representations of numismatic concepts according to the principles of Linked Open Data (LOD). These take the form of HTTP URIs that also provide access to reusable information about those concepts, along with links to other resources. The Nomisma.org community maintains a formalized RDF Ontology and a data model for encoding concepts, coins, typologies, hoards, and other types of numismatic objects as LOD.
The information made available by Nomisma.org has been provided by a wide community of scholars and institutions. All concepts published by Nomisma.org domain are openly accessible with a CC-BY license. See the Datasets page for further license statements for partner contributions to the Nomisma.org LOD ecosystem.
The archaeological site of Delphi is situated at a distance of 400m from the present-day village of Delphi on the road between Arachova-Amphissa-Itea.The modern road divides and delimitates the two ancient sanctuaries, namely the Sanctuary of Athena Pronaia to the south and the Sanctuary of Apollo to the north. The sanctuary of Athena Pronaia comprises the Tholos, the temples of Athena and two (at least) treasuries, whereas next to it the impressive gymnasium is situated.
Along the sanctuary of Apollo the Sacred Way ran, on both sides of which the Treasuries of the Greek cities were gradually built and ex-votos and monumental sculpted complexes were erected. The Sacred Way ends at the Temple of Apollo, which comprised the Oracle of Delphi in antiquity, whereas the theatre rose above the sacred area. Outside of the sacred precinct public buildings were constructed, such as the Western Portico and the Stadium, the latter situated on the highest point of the archaeological site.

The Pergamonmuseum was designed by Alfred Messel; its construction was overseen by Ludwig Hoffmann and lasted twenty years, from 1910 to 1930. A smaller building initially stood on the same site for a just few years before being torn down.
It housed the important excavation finds unearthed by the Berlin museums, such as the frieze panels from the Pergamon Altar, reclaimed from the earth in digs that lasted from 1878 to 1886. Inadequate foundations, however, soon resulted in the building becoming structurally unstable and it had to be demolished.
The new, larger Pergamonmuseum was built as a three-wing complex. The museum now houses three of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin’s collections: the Antikensammlung, the Vorderasiatisches Museum, and the Museum für Islamische Kunst. The impressive reconstructions of massive archaeological structures – the Pergamon Altar, Market Gate of Miletus, the Ishtar Gate and Processional Way from Babylon, and the Mshatta Facade – have made the Pergamonmuseum famous throughout the world, with the result that it is the most visited museum at the Staatliche Museen and in Germany as a whole.

The project's aim was to virtually reconstruct the monastic library of UNESCO-World Heritage Site Abbey Lorsch. More than 300 medieval manuscripts have survived and today they are spread over 73 libraries worldwide. The unification of the Lorsch codices and fragments for the first time makes the Abbey's intellectual foundation, and moreover the Carolingian world picture visible and researchable.
The Virtual Library unites all Lorsch manuscripts in the form of digital reproductions. In addition all codices are complemented by manuscript descriptions, which are researchable in a database set up especially for the project. The Search option in the database provides for the first time a detailed and systematic access to Lorsch's manuscript heritage.
What is DM?: an open-source DH platform for open-access workspaces, projects, collaborations, and scholarly publications
The premise of DM is simple: if you have a collection of digital images and texts, then you should be able to develop a project where you can identify specific moments on these images and texts, annotate them as much as you want, link them together, generate searchable content, collaborate with your friends, and publish your work online for others to see and share.
DM was developed on the Heroku cloud-server platform, where installation and administration is straightforward, after which developing individual projects requires no specific IT expertise. Keep scrolling to learn more.
